About OM Film Lab
OM Film Lab builds film-simulation recipes and thoughtful tools for Olympus and OM System photographers.
The aim is simple: make a complete, field-tested recipe collection that anyone can use, while building an independent photography product designed to last.
Why OM Film Lab exists
OM Film Lab began after a search for Olympus film recipes turned up fragments: a few settings buried in forum threads, screenshots without context, and no collection that felt carefully tested or maintained.
We are building the resource that was missing — a recipe finder driven by the feeling a photographer wants, with every setting written down and ready to use on the camera.

An opinionated photography tool
The product is built around committing to a look before pressing the shutter. Choose a recipe, put it on the camera, and let a day or a journey return in one visual voice.
That constraint is not a compromise. It means less time deciding at a computer and more attention on the place, light and people in front of the camera.

Every recipe has been outside
We do not derive recipes at a desk. Each one starts from a real film stock or a real film's palette, gets rebuilt using only controls the camera actually has — picture mode, tone curve, white balance shift, art filter — and then goes out on an actual day before it appears here. If it does not hold together in real light, it is not published. If it cannot be reached from the camera menu, it is not a recipe.
Nothing here needs editing software afterwards. That is the whole point.
The standard is practical rather than theoretical: OM Film Lab would rather wear out equipment in the field than publish a recipe seen only on a screen.

Free to use, built to last
Every recipe on this site is published in full — every setting, no sign-up, no paywall, no email required. That does not change.
The app supports the work and adds the Creative Dial, a personal library and a record of your own journey with these cameras. It is genuinely optional: you never need it to shoot anything published here.
OM Film Lab is being developed as a durable independent business so the catalog, product and promises can outgrow any one release — or any one person.

Founder & Developer
I'm Vi Hang Tan — Angus to most people. I started OM Film Lab after taking an Olympus E-PL2 through university, losing too many evenings to Lightroom, and discovering how much more satisfying photography became when I committed to a look before leaving home.
In August 2026 I left on a long season of travel, funded by my savings, to test recipes across different countries, seasons and light. I still design the product, write the code, carry the cameras and answer every message, while building OM Film Lab into a company that can stand on its own.

Thanks for reading this far — and for shooting an Olympus.
